I love technology.

Not one post from me this whole semester! Do you hate me? Have you lost interest? Well guess what? I'm back. For good this time. Finals will be over in 2 weeks and then you're just gonna get sick of me!

So the other day I was talking with some coworkers and we were reminiscing about all the technology that started to come about and remembering where we were when it all happened. Remember when the only thing we could really do on computers was type up a document on a blue screen and absolutely no font options? And the only games we had were stuff like Oregon Trail and Paper Boy? And then we got internet and it was a miracle. I remember when the internet was so stinking slow! Remember the sound it made when you tried to log on? And what in the heck did we used to do on the internet? Chat rooms? Email? There really was nothing else interesting to do was there? My mom banned chat rooms and required that I give her the password to my email account so she could check it regularly. There was a long period of time where I didn't even know the password to the internet - my mom had to log me on!

I remember my very first email account: and old childhood (and beyond) friend, James Marshall, set it it up for me... It was hotbabe54@hotmail.com and I was 13. Yes. I was the 54th hot babe to sign up for hotmail. Amazing really. I did not have a cell phone until after high school. I knew only 1 person who had and iPod, and it was one of those huge chunky ones with the 5 buttons on the front. I remember the first time he let me see it - I was so envious. It's funny to think that now my beautiful iPhone does pretty much anything I need (there's an app for that).

So what are things going to be like in 5 years? 10 years? What are my children going to have as just normal technologies in their lives?

Maybe this?

Know what I mean, Vern?

Probably one of my all time favorite things to say is "Know what I mean, Vern?"

I say it to people and if they are SUPER cool, they know what movies I'm quoting from. It's kind of what you would call my own personal coolness meter for people I associate with. Do you remember what movies that line is from? Those movies were my childhood.

Enjoy this little video clip.

Love love the fam

Last night I hung out with my family at a birthday party for my one-year-old little niece, Ashtyn. Good times. My brothers and sisters are the freaking best. Everyone is so goofy and so rad! Family is the best. Seriously.

Shark Week

I'm sad to say that I missed Shark Week. But it's all ok, because according to Robert Pattinson, sharks are stupid.

I'm gonna rock your body 'til Canada Day.

How I Met Your Mother has got to be on of the best sitcoms on TV right now. I have seen every episode and I'm pretty sure it's in my top ten best TV series of all time.

I knew the show was something special/genius when they revealed that one of the main characters, Robin, was a Canadian teen pop star. How funny is that? Well then the deal was sealed when they showed a couple of her music videos from back in the 80's... They are just so stinking funny! I could watch them over and over and over. Everyday. I hope you like them as much as I do. Everyday.

Ho ho ho! Love, Bernard

I apologize. I must be in the most random mood today, because this video is hilarious to me. I seriously laughed outloud for 5 whole minutes after it was over. And then I needed to blog it. Who is this Asian girl and why can't I keep from staring at her?

By the way, Paper Heart looks like my kind of movie. I can't wait.

Ok, I may be giving myself away, but...

Why is Kristen Stewart's hair so dang UGLY??

I know it's for her other movie... but really though? That's what wigs are for. EW. And is she a total druggie? I have my suspicions...

Post-its

I ran out of my favorite kind of post-its just now and I felt so lost and forlorn. I cannot function here at work without them. You don't realize how much you love something until it's gone...

In honor of my most favorite posties, here are some cute vids:

Sorry for the lameness of this post today... at least it's something, eh?

3 Wolves Howling at the Moon

Ok this is the most amazing thing I think I've ever seen and every boy should buy this: Here's why:

This shirt is selling like hotcakes (I don't fully agree with this expression... I don't really love pancakes hotcakes... anything that will take away from the room in my belly for bacon and syrup.... But I'll use the phrase anyway because it's catchy and I do what I want) on Amazon.com right now. Like 1000 a day. Nuts, huh? Well, I think it's all because of this crazy influx of customer reviews. It all started with a review done by a man who may possibly be the funniest man on the planet. After reading his review, I want one of these magical shirts. Do NOT tell me that you are not convinced, too, after reading this:

This item has wolves on it which makes it intrinsically sweet and worth 5 stars by itself, but once I tried it on, that's when the magic happened. After checking to ensure that the shirt would properly cover my girth, I walked from my trailer to Wal-mart with the shirt on and was immediately approached by women. The women knew from the wolves on my shirt that I, like a wolf, am a mysterious loner who knows how to 'howl at the moon' from time to time (if you catch my drift!). The women that approached me wanted to know if I would be their boyfriend and/or give them money for something they called mehth. I told them no, because they didn't have enough teeth, and frankly a man with a wolf-shirt shouldn't settle for the first thing that comes to him.

I arrived at Wal-mart, mounted my courtesy-scooter (walking is such a drag!) sitting side saddle so that my wolves would show. While I was browsing tube socks, I could hear aroused asthmatic breathing behind me. I turned around to see a slightly sweaty dream in sweatpants and flip-flops standing there. She told me she liked the wolves on my shirt, I told her I wanted to howl at her moon. She offered me a swig from her mountain dew, and I drove my scooter, with her shuffling along side out the door and into the rest of our lives. Thank you wolf shirt.

Pros: Fits my girthy frame, has wolves on it, attracts women Cons: Only 3 wolves (could probably use a few more on the 'guns'), cannot see wolves when sitting with arms crossed, wolves would have been better if they glowed in the dark.

Amazing, right? I know! Other reviewers have left their funny replies and follow-ups to this, but this one tops them all. LOVE. Some people have gone as far as making a spoof video about this amazing shirt and shirt review. So random!

So who's with me? Let's all get matching wolf shirts!

**************************

UPDATE:

I witnessed this very last weekend, in the flesh, a woman wearing the 3 Wolf Moon shirt. And let me tell you - she absolutely SHOULD have been wearing it. How is this shirt just so amazingly white trash??

Album of the Day

I was in the mood for some Cardigans today... and I decided that the album Long Gone Before Daylight has got to be one of their all time best albums. I love it. Here is a bunch of tracks from the album for you to listen to with me today! It's not the complete album... sorry.

Oh, Bev. Happy Birthday.

To my mother who made this blog possible by birthing me. Thank you mom for all that you do. Dearest Maude (short for Madre... that's our thing you know. I come up with witty names for her and she answers to them. I think I called her 'Muth' short for mother for a few years. Maude is my favorite though, I think), you are so beautiful and so talented. Whether it's your garden, your house, or your own sassy style - I can always count on you to be totally hip and classy. You've taught me so much! Thank you thank you thank you for everything! I love you! And seriously... YOU DO NOT LOOK 60!!

Can we all just agree that this is the most sweetest little toddler picture ever??

Are you seeing that face? Sheesh, so cute.

Total babeness even at 14. She wins.

Kids everywhere.

While building our house. Look at her hair. Look at baby Aaron. That's all I'm gonna say.

Summer Reading Cont.

Book Review #2

Did you read Kite Runner? If you haven't yet, do it. I'm serious. It was amazing. I won't talk too much about that because I read that book a while ago. The book I just read is the next book that Khaled Hosseini wrote - A Thousand Splendid Suns. I really loved this book because it focused on the lives of women in Afganistan rather than the men. The story follows two women over a span of several years and portrayed what they have gone through in the last 30 years with leadership changes and violent war and what that meant to the way they lived on a day to day basis. Families were ripped apart through carnage and death... but no matter what situation they found themselves in - they could find love and family in the people that shared their circumstance. The book starts out kind of slow and for a bit you wonder where it could be going, but then it starts to pick up with emotional events that keep you totally involved. I loved this book and I absolutely recommend it.

Do you love Crocs?

If so, you should buy these little gems:
And if you buy those, you certainly HAVE to buys these sexy jeans to wear with them:

If I ever hear that you people are wearing either of these things... I will find you, crash your bejeweled party, and I will beat you down.

I've updated my play list, HOT SHUFF, here to the right... and it is marvelous. Please check it out. Please. You can pop it out and listen to it without being on my dumb blog. I promise I won't be offended if you do that. I probably won't even know, really.

MJ

I know, even just 20 hours later it's cliche to blog about Micheal Jackson's death... but I decided I'm going to do it anyway. When my children read this blog, they will know what my life was like when Michael Jackson died. Seriously, that's how big I think he is and will be. Our children will know him and his music. Maybe like how we know Elvis?? I don't know - Elvis got fat, weird and druggy towards the end just as Michael got all white, weird and touchy-feely towards the end. Remember when he was black and HOT? Like right before all the weirdness started? Can you imagine how freaking rad he would have been if his publicist nixed the whole transformation thing? Who knows, he might have been hot and alive right now... ??

Ok weird. Stop. My children may read this someday... WEIRD! Hey kiddies! You're cute!

Anywho - His music videos ARE my childhood. I love that some of them were mini movies where Michael is portrayed as a BAD-A. I love that he looks so creeperish and feminine while he's trying to proclaim his masculinity. An other random thing I remember when I think if MJ is the Simpson's fat white guy who thought he was MJ. Remember him? Loved him. Oh, and moonwalking IS my childhood. Full on.

Really, it is so weird that he is dead! Goodbye, Michael, you crazy Son-of-a-Gun. I cry at night because I never got to see you live in concert.

Here is a smattering of my favorite videos:

Michael Jackson - Bad (Full Version)
Uploaded by love_sofia. - Watch more music videos, in HD!

Oh, sweet little Wesely Snipes.

via videosift.com

I love that besides his ghost self, MJ plays the white guy... funny.

My friends in high school always talked about doing a remake of this - we had all the requirements: a boy that could dance like MJ and a Japanese girl. Done.

Michael Jackson - Beat It
Uploaded by sofresh305. - Watch more music videos, in HD!

Did one of those guys look exactly like t pain? I love this one, well, because the Pilkingtons did a remake of it that was phenomenal - am I right, Mikey P? I think in their version, they filmed the fight scene behind the strip mall thing that is now the Winegar's parking lot. The closest thing to an actual alley in Bountiful... ha ha. If I could get a copy of it, I'll definitely post it for you. Oh, the Zoolander remix version of this song is great. Check that out if you can.

I am sorry... but this video is just amazing. Called out by James Brown himself. I mean come on!!!! To just step out of the crowd and bust it out like that? MJ is legendary. And Prince??? Carried up to the stage by some burly old white guy? AWESOME. I love that both MJ and Prince are all dressed up in their concert going best. In the end this thing turns out to be more of a Prince video, but cool that Michael was so famous and black at one time...

And this one because HE MOONWALKS LIKE A GOD. This is his debut of moon walking during Motown's 25th anniversary.

And of course... THRILLER! Because I personally believe that MJ is a FULL ON BABE in this video. If he had just stopped with the surgeries at this point... if only. And the special effects are great. Funny, the other day I was reading an article about the girl in this video - playboy centerfold Ola Ray - "Where is she now?" I guess now she's some 48 year old crack whore who is in the poor house. This surprises people because she was in one of the greatest music videos of all time. She said she saw no money except her one time paycheck. MJ kept all the royalties... and now he's dead. Go figure.

Ok, that's all. See ya, MJ.

Toothpaste Pranking

Ok I love this video. I'm pretty sure though, that ALL of those people are just fake sleeping. Especially the fat guy.

Mmmm chickie chickie!

I am so loving on the Cheesecake Factory's special menu right now. My favorite dish off of it is the Caramel Chicken. Really it's amazing. It is sweet and tangy and delicious. Along with the light and crispy breaded chicken and the amazing caramel sauce, it has mushrooms, carrots, beans, caramelized onions and sesame seeds served with rice.....

This is Soph lovin' on some of her rice. Cuuuute!

I prefer to get it with their yummy mashed potatoes. To DIE for, I swear it!

Please go or ask me to go ANYTIME and tell me what you think of it! That's the great thing about TCF is that not only do they have the best cheesecake, they also have great gourmet meals.

I think the best part of this particular trip to TCF, and I'm sure Sophie would agree... was the very good looking guy seated at the table next to us. He was my soul mate and I'm pretty sure that if I had enough guts to walk up to him that day... we would be married by now. Pretty sure.

Monday, June 22

Hey, Dad!

Happy Father's Day!! Thank you for everything you do. You seriously are so wonderful. I love you!

And... Sorry to post 2 videos in a row, but this one seriously made me weep a little. At work. It was embarrassing.

Inspirational

Today I'd like to share with you a video that is near and dear to my heart. It really is life changing. It was made by 2 guys I know from Bountiful. You may recognize them. They are genius. I've probably watched this 20 times... it's that good.

Enjoy.

Summer Reading

I am a fool for reading anything and everything, so with summer here and no classes - I can read anything I want. I'll try and update you on my summer books and hopefully accurately review and recommend some good books for you.

Book Review #1

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

This book had me hooked from the very beginning. It is a love story about a man, Henry, who can time travel and how he travels back in time to spend time with his wife, Clare, when she is a little girl. His time travel is sporadic and uncontrollable, so it keeps things interesting. The story follows the two characters as they grow and mature - more than just physically. When Henry is in his mid 30's or so, he visits Clare several times from a little girl to a teenager. Clare finally meets Henry in real time when they are both in their 20's. It sounds confusing, I know... but it does come together and make some sense.

Just as Henry has to deal with the fact that his wife is literally 6 years old half the time, Clare has to deal with Henry learning to be a responsible and steadfast husband as he transitions into the man she met as a girl. In his early years, Henry is wild and unpredictable. Meeting Clare and having her as a permanent fixture in her life stables him. Throughout their life together, they have many happy times, yet they also go through heartache, loss and loneliness like any other normal couple. What makes this story exciting is the added confusion of Henry's random time travel.

You can seriously ask my mom - I was hooked on this book after chapter 1. It was all I could think about. I could not put it down. From the beginning I kept wondering, "Why the heck isn't this a movie??" The story idea and the way it was executed is so clever. It was well written and the characters were well developed. It was cool to have time as a factor which allowed more of a span for character development. Towards the end, though, I kind of got a little bored. I think the circumstances in which it ends is kind of melodramatic and I could have thought of a better ending... but all in all... it was a really good book!

So then I find out: THEY'RE MAKING IT INTO A MOVIE!!! Yeah. I know. I love when that happens. And the people they have cast, I've decided, are perfect for the part.

Rachel McAdams will be Clare... Perfect.

Eric Bana will play Henry - Which I really really like. What a versatile actor, huh? Last role he played was... the Star Trek villain? Nice.

Even the little girl Clare is perfectly cast.

From the trailer, it seems to me that they are taking it down a different road than the book does. Major character changes have been made, especially in Clare. I guess they have to change things up a bit to keep things interesting - especially on the big screen. Well, the movie comes out in August and I cannot wait! If you read the book and want to go see the movie with me, let me know!

Here is the trailer. I was so excited when it finally came out.

Church Camp

This last weekend, despite an unfortunate run in with a leg tanner... I went camping with my singles ward up in Bryce Canyon. I totally forgot my camera. I know what you're thinking: How can I blog if I don't take pictures?? I know. I'm such a fool. Thank heavens for my good friends Kaycee and Bob. Bob took the shots with his super sweet camera and Kaycee blogged about the whole weekend and in my opinion did a very thorough job. Check it out! "Not in a Million Years". I believe he titled his blog post this because for real - we were at church camp wearing matching shirts. Not in a million years did we expect our lives to bring us to such an experience. Amazing.

Mmmmm Pooork

I would just like to thank my brother, Nate, for the deliciousness of the ribs he smoked this last weekend. They were amazing. Seriously amazing.

I HEART ZACK MORRIS

I seriously love this....This clip off of Late Night with Jimmy Fallon seriously made my week. It's kind of weird but kind of awesome and it takes me back to the good old days of quality Saturday morning TV viewing. Oh, how I wish they would do a Bayside Class Reunion!! I guess Jimmy has almost everyone but Screech and Kelly confirmed for it. Come on guys!

JayZ + Radiohead =

JAYDIOHEAD

I'm not that huge into popular rap, but I am in love with Radiohead. So naturally anything involving Radiohead... I'm gonna love. Check out this amazing album mixed by Minty Fresh Beats. Go to the link and have a listen, or download the whole album (clean, too). I've had this for about 6 months, and I don't get sick of it. It's awesome stuff.

Meet My Personal Trainer

So as I mentioned before, I am going on vacation here in a couple weeks and I need to get my body ready for some beach lovin'. As a music major, I have totally lost all habits of working out on a regular basis. I've got to practice! There's no time for a hot bod when you're singing your guts out... I know lame excuse.
Well, Aaron, my little brother, thought it was lame, too. So he took me to the gym and helped me with some rad moves that would help me trim up a bit. I got my butt kicked and we only worked my arms! I seriously can't even lift them today! I'm a wuss. But it's ok. I'll keep working. Goodbye Relief-Society-Arms!!!

I'm difficult. I am.

I am that person at a restaurant that makes my order so difficult, that I'm sure I've had a cook or a waiter or both spit in my food. Can I help it if I know what I like? I'm not picky, I'm particular. There's a big difference - 'picky' only has 2 syllables where as 'particular' has 4. Very different.

The other day, I went to lunch with my male BFFLE (best friend for like ever), Mikey P., to celebrate his departure for the summer to work as a ranch hand at a dude ranch (Really, Mike? Again, I ask why you're choosing to do this over hanging out with ME all summer? Who am I gonna go to Hires with and savor a juicy and delicious Reuben? Whose car am I gonna make fun of if not yours? Who is going to be the master drummer in our hit sensation Guitar Hero band 'BEV'? How am I going to hang out with your family and it not be weird? Van will make me sing for him - probably a song about his car, I just know it.) ANYWAY, so we go to lunch at Pei Wei. I like that place well enough, but this last year, they took my favorite dish off the menu: the Udon Noodle dish. It seriously was amazing, folks. So I order a different noodle dish that I really like, but I have to get it less spicy or else I'll get the heartburn. So I make all the changes and the sweet little Mexican woman taking my order is thoroughly frustrated with me. But I make sure to tell her again - please don't make it spicy! After eating 6 or 7 fortune cookies and drinking delicious water with orange slices, our food comes. And guess what? I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure they doubled the spiciness of my dish. My mouth and throat were on fire! Then the lady that took our order came over to ask how it was. I told her it was way too friggin' spicy. Then she gave me this gem of wisdom that I will never ever forget:

"Suntines, when I et sunteen sbicy, I llike to hab a beeer. Bud nod too muhch - I will ghet da beeg belly."

Best moment of my life. (And who says I don't blog about you, Mikey? haha)

This is genius

My friend Holly posted this on her blog and I loved it so much that I had to steal it: It's the best wedding video ever! Enjoy.

Some down-right SPECIAL things about me...

I prefer Costco Kirkland water to any other bottled water.

If I could bottle any smell and make it my own personal and signature perfume, it would be the smell of Barnes & Noble.

I love shoes more than breathing. As my brother, Aaron, would say to me: "Katie, you have more shoes than days left to live." My shoe fetish is a direct result of my mother's shoe fetish. She loves shoes more than her own life.

I love tomatoes. I could eat them all day. I am a tomato person.

I enjoy violent testosterone charged movies. You're welcome, Nate.

I would kill to have redheaded babies.

I have heartburn almost everyday.

I would love to live on Prince Edward Island.

I have never had a cold sore, but I always get cankers.

I'm semi-in-love with my cat, Atticus.

I love seeing semi trucks without a trailer on the freeway - they look so funny!

I'm obsessed with interior design magazines. I love to cut out my favorite chairs, colors, patterns, accessories, room combos.... what will I ever do with these random clippings? I don't know yet.

I love photo editing. I may take things a step further someday and take a photography class.

If I could sing like anyone... It would have to be a tie between the lead singer of The Cranberries, Dolores O'Riordan and Annie Lennox. I would make you call me Crannie Lennox.

I could play Bejewelled all day.

My all time favorite radio stations are KRCL 90.9 and Classical 89.1.

I love candy. I LOVE candy.

If I could, I would live in JCrewland where everyone is classy and stylish. I would drive around in my old-fashioned cars, play croquet, go boating with my super classy and super hot hubby on my own personal lake. Everyday.

I don't drink pop... not usually. I'll take a Fresca if you have it. And I do love ginger ale - it reminds me of being on an airplane, it reminds me of my dad, and also makes you burp like a freaking champion.

I prefer rainy days.

I sometimes get confused when asked to turn left or right while driving. So sue me. So much pressure!

My dream someday is to get my four front teeth all veneered up. (The front four are in a state of disrepair - I've chipped them up so badly throughout my life. But I've worked at dentist offices all my life and they have set me up pretty good until I have the $$$$$ for new teeth. Thank you, old bosses! I owe you!)

Some of my most favorite memories are having dance parties with just my little brother in his room. We are awesome.

I hate Celine Dion... I think she is a creeper. But her new album, Taking Chances... It simply rocks my world.

I could watch Masterpiece Theater Classics until I die. I love them. I love PBS.

If I had to, I could eat tuna fish sandwiches for the rest of my life.

I am a horrible pop singer. I really am. That is why I'll never ever do American Idol. If they ever have Opera Idol, I'm in.

My heart beats for Mason Jennings.

I have a loud/shrill voice on the phone (I'm told), sorry.

My middle name is Floy. For real. After my Grandma on my dad's side and my great grandma on my mom's side.

I'm pretty right winged politically. Of my own choice, thank you very much. I ain't ignorant.

I love my little car. With all of my heart.

I am 1/16 Cherokee Indian. For real.

I want to be Gwen Stefani. She rules.

I want at least 6-8 children. Husband? Are you out there?

I love wearing heals. To be stomping around at 6' or 6'1'' is exhilarating.

I hate dangley earrings on me. I think I look like a cross-dressing man with them on. It's a special day that I wear them.

I'm a mac girl.

I was born a blonde, and I will continue to be blonde... even if I have to fake it a little.

I love to read. Anything.

I love my family more than anything. More than shoes I think.

Ma Boys!

Did everyone see the 30 Rock finale last night? I almost had a full on heart attack when the Beastie Boys made a guest appearance!! Well, it was Ad-Rock and Mike D... I'm not sure why MCA wasn't there... oh how I love MCA and his grey-haired ways. Anyway, they were so great. What a treat. Thank you, 30 Rock... for being so awesome. (I love this picture of them, by the way. I love how they look so white punk even being a tad bit older and just chillin' on the streets of little old Park City, Utah.)

As I was looking for interesting Beastie Boys news today, I found this hilarious interview they did while on tour... I think. They don't answer any questions seriously at all. My favorite is when they start talking about George Washington's teeth and also what they have in common with 50Cent.
Also, I must post my favorite Beastie Boys music video. It really is hard to choose just one... they are genius when it comes to their videos.... But here it is.

Hello RoboCop

Pretty sure that's what I look like right now. Just thought I'd whine a little bit about how I'll be made fun of for the rest of the day here at work. My life is so hard.

I just had an eye exam and they dilated my pupils. I left and put the super cool glasses on to protect my eyes, and for a second I thought I actually looked pretty cool. Don't they make regular sunglasses like this now for all the cool kids?

This is seriously what my pupils look like right now.

Hot Pants!

This post is dedicated to my sweet little big sister KRISTIN.
Happy Birthday, Woman!
Kristin, you are just such a rad lady. I look up to you so much! I want to be you when I grow up. You are so fun and so funny. I love being with you. You have always been there for me when I've needed you, so thank you. I love you!!

Some awesome things about Kristin: she is a great mom of six rad kids, she is a kick-butt gardener, she is an awesome wife, she is not ashamed to do weird things in public... which is hilarious, she is a great sister and always has awesome advice, she has great taste in music... Oh! And she loves Sting more than I do, which is saying something! One of my favorite experiences with Kristin is when we were at a Sting concert with her husband, Tyler, and our sister Brittany. She was 8 months pregnant and she was still game for sneaking backstage to try and meet Sting. I think we actually used the line that if they would let us backstage, she would name her child after Sting. Well, something we did must have worked... I think I became buddy buddy with the security guard... anyway, we got back to the band. It was sweet. Sting wasn't there, he had been snowboarding all day before the concert and was beat, so he was already in his bus. But even still it was a rad experience. We kind of just chilled with the band for a little while. It was sweet. I grabbed a Gatorade and Kristin grabbed a Perrier from the band's food table as a little Sting memorabilia.
I wanted to put up a couple pictures of Kristin, but I could not decide which ones... so I put them all on here. Enjoy:

Me and Kristin a few years ago.
Glamming it up for the photo booth.
With her friend back in the 80's... seriously rockin' that sweet hair and denim jacket.
At Halloween with her husband, Tyler. Yes, they are polygamists. Hilarious!!
Cheesin' it up.

Lastly, I'd like to dedicate this sweet music video to Kristin. I love you, girl.
