Alive and still Mormon

Geez it's been a crazy hard week! I'm excited for it to be over and done with!

This morning was the last of the stressfulness - I performed for a panel of professors at school and it was not fun! I feel like I did well, though. But there's always room for improvement. But I can breathe again! It's funny last night Aaron and I were talking about having to do hard things that you can't get out of and we both have funny ways of coping: He will tell himself, "It's gonna be ok because tonight you'll be alive and you'll get to sleep in your bed." Awesome that his place of safety and refuge is his bed. I can totally understand that sentiment - I love my bed more than anything! I, on the other hand, while dealing with hard things tend to think on more of an hour by hour basis - like last night as I was preparing, I thought, "Don't worry, by 10 am tomorrow it will all be over and you will still be alive." And as my dear friend, Sophie would say when asked if she was ok after a hard situation: I'm alive and still Mormon.

I think I will indulge myself today and go get a big bag of Coconut M&M's. It's been way too long since I've had them.

Water Passion Update

Remember when I performed the Tan Dun Water Passion with the University of Utah choirs? Well, it was weird and amazing and shocking and a tad bit scary at times. My family came and supported me (which was way awesome! Thanks, fam!), and they even stayed the entire time. I had friends in the choir whose families left halfway through because it was so weird and out there. BUT, it was incredible. On a musicality level it was very difficult and random. The piece was just written a few years ago and is very modern. Learning it was challenging, but it all seemed worth it when it was put together. The story of Christ's life is portrayed in such a literal and high emotion way with the Water Passion. I think people were a little off put at first, but by the 8th movement, we were all feeling it. I feel very lucky to have been part of it. Experience of a lifetime for sure. And we got some good reviews, too! Here is a clip of the first movement, Baptism. I'm crazy busy with studying for em'. And I'm trying to memorize some Spanish and Italian arias... Fun times!

I'm going a bit nuts!!

So it's been a long stinking time since I've last posted. To my dear readers (you two, you know who you are) I sincerely apologize. Here is my brilliant excuse: SCHOOL IS KICKING MY BUTT!!! But I love it. I really really love it. I was thinking back to what I was doing last year at this time: the only pressing thing on my schedule was planning my company party. Compared to now...ugh. I have a billion things to do! Finals, singing, work, Christmas, studying, working, dating... my schedule is nuts! So I am sorry to those of you that I have neglected as of late. I really am sorry. That is my goal this Christmas break - be a better friend and visit all of you wonderful people.
