Benvenuti a casa Sorella Barth!

Sophie Rose is back from her mission to Rome, Italy! It is soooooo good to have you back, Soph! Her homecoming talk was solid and inspirational (as always) and the breakfast afterward was about the same. Sophie's mom, Megan, is the best cook I know. I have been lucky enough to take cooking lessons from her and let me tell you: she's a genius in the kitchen. She served homemade keeshes with all crazy different mix-ins like crab and wasabi! So great. It was fun to see all the old high school guys... I'm glad they are still single with me. Good times! Anywho, welcome back Sophie! Proud of you.

Best Movie I saw in Oh-Eight

I am not an acclaimed critic by any means, but I must tell you about the best movie I saw in 2008: Slumdog Millionaire. It is rated R, but I'm pretty sure it's rated on India terms. There was nothing too intense about it. Just one f-bomb that I can remember. But, it's worth it. It's amazing. I would recommend this movie to anyone! I would recommend this movie to my mother. Go see it.
ps. I also really loved Dark Night, but that's a given, I think.

Kate's Salt Lake Restaurant Review

My good friend, Bob, recently discovered an article in one of the local papers on the best restaurants in the Salt Lake area. So he recruited me to join him in visiting every restaurant on the list and seeing for ourselves.

My latest favorite is Faustina. When people ask me what kind of food it is, I don't really know what to say except for "it's a mix of meat, pastas, fish, breads.... I don't know! It's just really delicious." I've heard it categorized as New-American. Whatever that is. The pricing is mid range. The food is creative and very very tasty (their house salad is awesome, and I could eat the rosemary bread with basil olive oil and vinegar all night long!). The service is slower, but very attentative - As I walked up to the front door, the host hurried and opened the door for me before I got to it. The atmosphere is awesome! The decor is very mod and the paint colors they have chosen are soothing and subtle. If you want to go on a cozy romantic date or even out with the girls, this is the place to go. If you do try it, tell me what you think!

I'm going a bit nuts!!

So it's been a long stinking time since I've last posted. To my dear readers (you two, you know who you are) I sincerely apologize. Here is my brilliant excuse: SCHOOL IS KICKING MY BUTT!!! But I love it. I really really love it. I was thinking back to what I was doing last year at this time: the only pressing thing on my schedule was planning my company party. Compared to now...ugh. I have a billion things to do! Finals, singing, work, Christmas, studying, working, dating... my schedule is nuts! So I am sorry to those of you that I have neglected as of late. I really am sorry. That is my goal this Christmas break - be a better friend and visit all of you wonderful people.

HE'S BACK!!!

I never thought this day would come, but... AARON IS HOME!! I am so so so glad to have him back! We went to dinner and then went home. Before bed, he and I read a talk together... It was quite fun to be his companion for a minute. Welcome back, Aar! And goooooood luck with all the adjusting!

He was afraid to hug me at first... because I'm a girl. Sweet little boy.

One month to go, baby!!

In one month from today, my little brother, Aaron, will be getting home from his mission!! I'm so excited. I really can't contain myself! He is my best friend and I can't wait to have him back. One of my favorite memories of him is when he did the Napolean Dynamite dance in a school assembly. Obviously he looks a ton like Napoleon, so having him dance on a school stage just like in the movie... CLASSIC! He is such a funny kid. Love you, buddy! See you soon!

Gwyneth: Could you be any more fabulous?!?

For any of you that know me well - you know that I love Gwyneth Paltrow. I think it all started with Emma... but I'm really not sure. I think I'm just naturally inclined to love her! I can't help myself! She and her stylist combined have such classy taste! She's always looking fresh and beautiful and I want to be her!

I know what some of you are thinking: she's a weirdo! She named her kids Apple and Moses... but really, though? I think those names are so great! I am a weirdo when it comes to baby names, too.

And yes, she does dislike our government and the U.S. a bit. She thinks America is prideful and too patriotic...ummm ok. I think that people with such negative opinions on our country should stop whining and they should do something about it themselves or leave! And that's what Gwyneth did. She married a Brit and moved to London. So good on yah, Gwyn!

So when I came across this article on Gwyneth and her Hampton's home... I almost freaked out! She has wonderful design taste! I was very pleased to see that her home style matched her personal style. It's very modern and chic yet classic at the same time. Check out Habitually Chic's coverage on Gwyneth's place. You're great Gwyn!

Bangin' Bangs

I was kind of nervous when I first cut my bangs, but now I love them! They really work better for my face, I think. I love Heidi Klum's bangs, but I don't think I would go that intense with them. The straight across cut is rad, but a little too edgy. I have all the angles I need with my nose! Ha!

Utah Girl Am I!

Sad, I know. My first Utah game of the year was the Oregon State game. I went with my friend Mikey B. and had a great time... What a crazy game!! We were freaking out at the end! It's turning out to be a really good season!
GO UTES!!

I Heart Halloween!!

Seriously, though!

I think it all started when I was little - my mom would make it a big deal to put out the Halloween decorations and I would look forward to it every year. Love it! And since I'm a big nerd and interior design and decorating thrills me - I love collecting ideas for the future. Not that I'm not allowed to decorate my little house right now, but... as a starving student, resources are limited, you know?
Ok, so I must add that I am very particular on decorations. I really like all the cutesy stuff, but I would prefer a more subdued theme for Halloween. I think maybe when I have little kiddies of my own, I'll like the crafts and such, but for now... no. Here are some really cute ideas for different and/or unusual pumpkin decor:

I love this! Easy, simple and different.

Ok, this one is so cute! You use cookie cutters to make the shapes you want.

This one is really cool. I'm way into all things metallic lately, so this one is a fav. You can either spray paint the pumpkins with gold, silver, bronze, whatever or you can put actual gold leafing on them. I couldn't find a picture of the gold leafing pumpkins, but they are beautiful!

This one is so cute! You paint tin cans whatever color and then punch holes in for the faces. I love that they are a little bit robotic. And you can stack them like in this picture - Love this one!

Have any good ideas? Let me know!

I'm here.

So here's the deal: I love blogs... other people's blogs to be more specific. I love reading opinions, updates, insights, quotes... I love it all! But it really was never for me. I know, I'm one of those people who think they're too cool for school and will not blog... yes. I admit it. I am. So when all my friends decided to get married on me, they all, like clockwork, began their lovely marriage blogs. I think that's the thing to do these days: get married and start a blog. So as I was slowly converted to blogs, I secretly decided that I would wait until I got married to be able to share my opinions and post pictures of my cute and devoted hubby and me. Then one day, I thought:
SCREW THAT!!
I'm going to start a blog as a single gurl! I'm gonna do it and enjoy it and people are going to read it and enjoy it, too. Even if it's just my mom and sisters reading this (thank you! Love ya!), then so be it.
