LV Envy

I went to Vegas with some friends and it was amazing. Vegas is not my favorite place - it's dirty and sleazy and hot and crowded and you can't and shouldn't look down or up or over you should keep your eyes focused on the head of the person in front of you and you shouldn't touch anything and you shouldn't breathe in too deep and you shouldn't gamble. These are just my own personal rules, no need to follow them unless you want to be a dirt bag... just sayin'.

But I do like hanging by the pool and shopping and laughing and eating good food and being with good people... so by those standards, the trip was a success!

Enjoy this little video that dearest Eric Lund put together for me. (Don't mind the title of the video - we were being ironical :) )

Gimme a sec...

Cabo was ridiculously beautiful! Don't worry, pics are coming!

Listen to this - it's been my wintery playlist for the day! Special, I know.

Watch this video... it's seriously amazing.

JAY KAY!!

Dear Readers,

Remember a long long long time ago when all I wrote about was my silly trip to the Holy Land (aka Cabo San Lucas)?? And then all of a sudden I just stopped and didn't post pictures and didn't say a darn thing about the trip? Did anyone catch onto that? Yeah well, a week before we left for Cabo last year - Mommy Dearest caught the SWINE FLU!!! Here are some of my favorite H1N1 themed pics:

Isn't this just the cutest thing ever??

Look at the joy in her eyes - she dodged the piggy bullet.

Precious, really.

So romantic. So hygienic.

Hipster.

This one is intriguing to me - Why is he in a gas chamber WWII mask? And more importantly, why is he sitting on a toilet? What does this portray in regards to H1N1?

Now I know what you're thinking - "WTF Katie? Blogging about Swine Flu? That is so 2009." And yes, you would be right about that, but you see, it is key to the point of this post. So back before our trip, I was on swineflutracker.com everyday making sure it was safe to go to that particular region of Mexico. Even up until the day of our trip - there was no sign of it in Cabo. But because my mom was sick in the hospital with it... we had to cancel. Ironic, huh? But now the trip has been rescheduled for tomorrow!! What a wonderful holiday break: Birthday, Christmas, New Years, and now MEXICO!

I do have a slight sore throat today, but I'm sure it's nothing...

Happy Holidays everyone!!!

Church Camp

This last weekend, despite an unfortunate run in with a leg tanner... I went camping with my singles ward up in Bryce Canyon. I totally forgot my camera. I know what you're thinking: How can I blog if I don't take pictures?? I know. I'm such a fool. Thank heavens for my good friends Kaycee and Bob. Bob took the shots with his super sweet camera and Kaycee blogged about the whole weekend and in my opinion did a very thorough job. Check it out! "Not in a Million Years". I believe he titled his blog post this because for real - we were at church camp wearing matching shirts. Not in a million years did we expect our lives to bring us to such an experience. Amazing.

Welcome to day ONE of summer...

Yes, it's official. I'm seriously done with finals and I am so happy about it. I seriously need a break... and one is on it's way! I'm going to CABO SAN LUCAS in June! Yes, I know. What about the stinkin' swine flu crap? Well, I'm hoping that all of that will be over with by the time my trip comes around. It's funny how much the media affects how people react to things. It honestly is not that big of deal! How many people have the regular flu right now? A ton. Yes, people are dying, but not at a crazy alarming rate. Look at this nifty website I found that confirms that going to Cabo is a GOOD IDEA. (Family, please look at this website and DO NOT cancel our flights!)

Here is Casa de Grande... The super sweet Villa we will be staying in.

Here is a view from the side balcony - there's a pool and a hot tub right outside the door of the room I'm staying in. Seriously, this place is magic.

This is the view from another balcony onto our sunbathing deck that sits above the open ocean. Yeeeah.

This is me in Cabo a couple years ago 4-wheelin' on the beach. Happy times.
****Clarification to this post: It was brought to my attention that this post seems a bit pretentious. And I am sorry. Let me make it very clear that my family has been invited to Cabo by some very very kind and gracious friends. We are very blessed and very lucky to have the opportunity to go anywhere, let alone Mexico. Our family doesn't travel much at all and so it is just the most amazing thing to be able to experience life outside of Utah even just once in a while. So thank you to the people that have made this trip possible. THANK YOU!!****

Happy New Year!

This year I celebrated with my friend Sophie Barth and her family. What a wonderful little week we had! I cannot wait for the day that I am a legitimate jet setter (it will come!!). We flew off to San Francisco and stayed in her parent's place located right off Fisherman's Wharf. What a sweet trip! Really, it was great. We ate out, went shopping, watched movies... So fun! We also went to a really cool museum, the de Young. They had an awesome exhibit on Yves Saint Laurent and his amazing couture dress and clothing collection. It was SWEET. I was in heaven. And then New Years on the Wharf was rad - with fireworks halfway visable through the foggy harbor... beautiful! Overall, a surprising lack of homosexuals, and I was a tad bit disappointed.

The girls standing in front of this randomly "famous" penguin statue looking cool and not at all nerdy. Check out the fog hiding the buildings behind us... spooky.
