Break it down

So for one night only, MC Hammer and his boi Vanilla Ice are performing down in Orem. Really. Orem. How stinking random is this? Way random. And it's going to be 80's sweet I think... Vanilla Ice said this about the show:

"Me and him (MC Hammer), we set the world on fire. We're going to do it up in Utah.... I'm going back to the old school, with cannons and pyrotechnics."

Um, he's crazy and I love it! I hope I can go... I'll let you know if I do!

LOL at my love/hate texting relationship.

So I love texting. Especially with my iPhone. It is the best.

But then at the same time: I'm horrible at texting! I will get a text and I will be in the middle of something and I'll think to myself that I'll respond later, but then I never do. It's not that I don't want to respond, I just am so forgetful! So if you've ever been victim to my texting follies, I'm sorry. Are any of you the same way?

One thing I hate about texting is that boys think it's ok to ask you out over texting. How hard is it to actually dial my number, wait while it rings, and then leave a message? (Chances are I won't answer... I'm horrible at that, too. I always have stuff going on! I swear.) I feel like texting has just added another avenue for a guy to be a wuss. Don't get me wrong - if I'm actually dating you - you better text me! Random thoughtful texts are the best.

And lastly, I hate text lingo. Hate it. If I ever use it... slap me. Please. I enjoy correct spelling, correct grammar, and correct punctuation. I'm a texting snob, I guess.

Some seriously good music, people.

Check out my "Hot Shuff" (short for hot shuffle... ha! I'm so clever with the half words!) play list! Do it. DO IT. There are some really really good songs on there! I promise. I personally think mixes are such a big deal. It's like looking into someones soul! I make my sister mixes - and she tells me she can tell how I'm feeling about life at that time. She's cool like that.

Here, I'll even get you started by highlighting one of the artists on my play list. His name is William Fitzsimmons and he is great. My most favorite song of his is on my play list: If You Would Come Back Home. It's gorgeous. Look it up on my play list or on his website. He seems like a rad guy and pretty talented I guess:

"William Fitzsimmons is one of the oddest people you will ever meet. Born the youngest child of two blind parents, William was raised in the outskirts of the steel city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Due to the family's inability to communicate through normal visual means, William's childhood home was filled with a myriad of sounds to replace what eyes could not see. The house was suffused with pianos, guitars, trombones, talking birds, classical records, family sing-a-longs, bedtime stories, and the bellowing of a pipe organ, which his father built into the house with his own hands. When his father's orchestral records were not resonating through the walls, his mother would educate him on the folk stylings of James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bob Dylan, and Simon & Garfunkel."

He's coming to Kilby Court on March 22... I may go. Come with. It'll be rad!

Something that is buggin'...

Are you all aware of RC Willey's new campaign with Paige Davis? Is it just me or is she the most annoying person on the planet right now? Now, I remember from Trading Spaces that she was slightly freaky and perky - but was she really that bad? Maybe I just don't remember clearly... You know, even the billboards are annoying! Am I right? They are so cheesy! This ad campaign is not making me want to go out and buy anything from RC Willey (even if I had the money).

Don't get me wrong - I am a big fan of clever advertising, even if it's slightly weird and annoying. Remember those Quizno commercials with those little hamster things with human mouths that sang ("They have a pepper bar!") ? They were creepy and disturbing! But at the same time I found them hilarious! Everyone was talking about the Quizno commercials and in turn everyone was talking about Quizno's! Smart and creepy advertising!

Maybe RC Willey realizes that she is annoying and they're trying to do the same thing Quizno's did with the rats. They got me talking about it, so... they win?

I wish I could make some cash by being annoying! Paige is the real winner here.

Not-so-SECRET OBSESSION

I'm just going to be honest with you all: I LOVE LOST!! I've kinda had a busy week, so I just barely got to watch Wednesday's episode today. What is it about LOST that makes me crazy? I have never felt this way about a stinking TV show before! It's kind of sad how much I think about LOST. ***Insert blog reader's thoughts here: "Kate really needs a life. Or a boyfriend. Or less free time."***

Does anyone feel the same way? And who wants to watch it with me sometime? It seriously is my favorite to watch with other people and discuss theories during the commercials - NO talking during the show!! Lemme know, folks.

Here is my list of LOST concerns and tidbits:
  • Why is Jack so darn HOT? I feel like in this 5th season, he's getting less druggy and more on the ball and back to the take charge Jack that we all know and love. I sure do feel like he's my ideal. So if any of you find a man that has similar positive Jack qualities and you're married already so you can't have him... hook a girl up.
  • Jack's beard was totally hot in a homeless bum kind of way and I'm kind of sad it's gone. He better let the inner scruff out when he's back to the island. (I have a thing for beards, but that's a whole other future post.)
  • Why is Sawyer getting nicer? I love when he's mean and sarcastic.
  • When are they going to kill off Juliet? I'm over her.
  • What is Daniel going to do about Charlotte and Miles getting all sick? What does he know about it? And what was with that one opening scene a few episodes ago where he was under the Dharma Orchid station alone...
  • Kate needs to cool it. She is so randomly dramatic about stuff. Kate, you're gorgeous, but nuts. And figure out already if you love Jack or Sawyer. It's getting weird.
  • What's with Claire? I seriously think she has been brainwashed. Who up and leaves their baby? Weirdo. And where is Aaron? Did he need to go back to the island? What's the freaking deal? They better include that kid in future episodes. He is the cutest kid actor ever! I will have little towheaded boys like that. I will.
  • Is Charlie ever coming back? No? Ugh.
  • I love Hurley. He is so great. Just love him. I love that he bought all those plane tickets. And he knows beforehand that he's going to the island - did he pack anything special? A crate of food?
  • Sayeed is a babe. A torturing-mankilling-hitman babe.
  • Richard is rad. Hot and eternal. Is he wearing eyeliner? I don't care. Is he Jacob level or Ben level power-wise? I feel like he always has the answers.
  • And what's with that random 4-toed foot statue? Huh?

Ok, that's it for now. Please comment! Let me feel like I'm not alone and that I'm not a total nerd for blogging about a stupid TV show! Thanks, you're great.

Gold.

So today in my Book of Mormon class, my instructor, S. Michael Wilcox (LOVE him), said the funniest thing about dating. He said,

"I am convinced that "hanging out" was invented in hell."
Genius. He's right, I think.
Funny dating story for you: I went out with this boy knowing before hand that he only dated brunettes. While we were on our first date I brought it up:
Kate: So I just want to make you aware that you are on a date with a blonde. How do you feel about the fact that you are buying dinner for a girl there is no future with.
Boy: Oh, it's all good. I saw your roots, so we're fine.
No joke he said that! Just because my naturally darker blonde roots look so much darker compared with my added lighter blonde color... Sheesh!
So I'm on a third date with this same boy and he says:
Boy: Kate. I know that you're dating a lot. And I know that you know that I'm dating a lot, too. I just wanted to let you know that you're at the top of my list.
Kate: Ummmmm.... Ok. Thanks, I guess.
So funny. Needless to say, it was over by the fourth date.
p.s. to this post: I spellchecked it and it told me I spelled "blonde" wrong... Um, I've been spelling it that way for a long time now. Like, my whole lifetime. So of course I googled it, and found a yahoo answer that was kind of funny and I don't know if it's true. The person giving the answer said that you call women blonde and men blond. And it's now sometimes considered sexist to use the 'e' at the end. Weird.

SNOW! I'm the only one not sick of it, I think.

Are you sick of the snow yet? I feel like as soon as New Years is over, some magical thing in the air causes everyone to expect the snow to go away pretty quick-like. So every storm that we have thereafter is cause for grumpiness and allowed bad attitudes. Really? We're in Utah, folks! Get used to it! It's like every year, everyone forgets that a Utah winter does not end until about Mayish.

You know? I often times thank the heavens that I was born in Utah. Really, it's the perfect place for a girl like me! Besides the Fall being just amazing, the winter is SO RAD! Here is my reasoning for the awesomeness of winter:
  1. It is beautiful
  2. Christmas and MY birthday (reason enough, I know)

  3. Snow sports

  4. Layering up in sweaters and thermals

  5. Boots!! Hello?

  6. Wearing kick-A dress coats to church and such

  7. Being cold is a perfect excuse to cuddle

  8. Warm fires

  9. Cozy socks and quilts and blankets

  10. Hot chocolate

  11. Scarves

Please, try and tell me different on my list. I will fight you. And you know, I get it. Summer and Spring are great. I myself have plenty of reasons to want those to come sooner (swimming, boating, convertible, cute shorts and sandals...), but I'm a winter girl! I just love it!

Some other cold things I enjoy include: ice, ice water, frozen nuggets, frozen pizza... I guess these are edible things and totally off subject... sorry. Oh! Last Saturday, I went to a Bob Sledding time trial thing up at the Olympic Park in Park City - so fun! It was cold and snowy and windy and wonderful.

That's my friend, Bob, and me freezing our butts of and loving it. Not a very flattering picture, but you get the point: Gorgeous winter day.

This is a bobsledding team racing down the track. Yes, these photos are taken with my iPhone. It can do everything. It even made us hot chocolate later that day.

Lastly, if you know me well at all, you know that I cannot leave the house without my J.Crew Puffer Vest. I will be heartbroken when it's too warm to wear them.

HAPPY WINTER!

I didn't think anyone could hate I-80 more than I do...

...but I was wrong! Check this out:

I seriously laughed my butt right off when I was driving passed that the other day! Yeah, I-80! Take that! That'll show you for being extremely difficult to drive on... especially at night. Sheesh!

Then I wondered: who are these people and how drunk were they when they decided to do this? They had to have done it in the middle of the night as to not get caught. Come on people! Go get an education and get on with your lives already! I'm sure your baby mama would not approve of your actions right now!

So then I saw a commercial the other day for a story FOX13 did on the graffiti, and I'm so mad about it! Cleaning up the graffiti has cost Utah $20,000 in the last two weeks alone! Can you believe it?

So next time you see some punks repelling off the freeway walls to do a little tagging - call the stinking police!

Just a little P.S.: I heart Snack Packs

I do! I just cannot get over how delicious they are. I know. I'm the biggest nerd ever.

And I love Liz Lemon from 30 Rock. She is nuts and I love it. If you do not watch that show - I am sorry. You need to start. It is simply hilarious. I watched it with my little brother, Aaron, last night, and I swear I laughed at every other word that was said. Aaron didn't laugh as much as I did, so maybe it's not as funny as I think it is... but I don't care. It's a great show. Isn't she so hot in this picture? Man, I love her.

"I want to go to there."
***Special post edit: Did you know you can see what Tina Fey is up to in real life on a day to day basis? Yeah, I know it's kind of creepy, but she is hilarious! Check it out: http://twitter.com/tinafey?page=1

NEW PUPPY and some hot women music.

My family got a cute little poopface puppy last night. She is a beaut! She's a full bread Coton de tulear... kind of like a miniature sheep dog. She kind of looks and feels like a rabbit. So I love her.
So I thought I would share with you some awesome new or not so new music. I love women artists that are kind of chill and soulful. Here are 3 of my current favorites and a song suggestion from each so you can check them out. Tell me what you think!
  1. Grace Potter and The Nocturnals - my favorite song is 'Apologies'.
  2. Catherine Feeny - my favorite song is 'Hush Now'.
  3. Tina Dico - my favorite song is 'Count to Ten'.

OK! Ok. I hate this blog.

So I was talking with my dearest Teddy today (well, we were g-chatting, really. I love to gchat. I really really do. If you ever want to chat it up with me - do it! I'm at work a ton and I love chatting sooooooo lemme know!) And we decided that I need to blog more! I feel like I have a ton to say and I have a lot of funny experiences - so why not share? I just get so nervous sometimes about this whole internet crap. Don't google me! Don't tell anyone I have a blog! Blogs are dumb! No I don't sit on a computer all day! Sheesh. Ok really though. Read my blog. Please. Pretty please.

Here's what I'm thinking: I will start being a little bit more personal! Who really is reading this anyway, huh? Just people that love me, right right? You love me. You do.

So here is a bullet list (I love lists) of the items and subjects that I will try and be more specific on:

  • I love internet shopping. It's the best shopping you can do without spending money! They key is as soon as you're ready to check out, you hit the 'X' button and forget it all happened. And I feel like I have some sort of grasp on what's hot and what's not, so I'll keep ya'll up to date.

  • I date a lot. This statement is in no way a statement of joy. Like I've said before. I date in quantity, not quality. But the good thing about it all, is that I have a ton of funny stories and one liners. So I will try and entertain you with that! Fun!

  • I heart music with all my heart. And I have great music taste. I do. Sorry. So I'll suggest new songs, artists, and playlists that I'm rocking. (While we're on the subject - I want to add a music player to my blog with a mix that I made specifically for it and it is awesome. I just don't know how to do it. Will someone help me with my handiblog needs? Thanks.) And I am not THAT snobby about music. I love suggestions... so suggest away, please!

Ok. Ready? Good. I am.
